Niagara Falls

For those of you who will be visiting Canada or coming from out of town, here are a few of the great places and events that we encourage you to visit while staying in Niagara-On-The-Lake.

The Falls: One of the Seven Wonders of Canada is located 30 minutes from Niagara-On-The-Lake. Formed by receding glaciers during the last age, the Niagara Falls is a one way pit stop for all water traveling from the Great Lakes to Lake Ontario while en route to the Atlantic Ocean.

Clifton Hill: The largest tourist promenade in Niagara Falls is well known for its amusement and night life. Clifton Hill contains a number of gift shops, wax museums, haunted houses, video arcades, restaurants, hotels and amusement attractions. It's in close proximity to the Falls, and located between River Road and Victoria Avenue.

Casinos: There are two casinos in Niagara Falls - Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino. Out of the two, we highly recommend Fallsview. It has over 100 gaming tables, 3000 slot machines, 18 restaurants, 30 shops, a few bars, and 1 night club! It also has a big funky looking indoor fountain that is perfect for pictures or to stare into with regret once you've gambled all your money away.

Nightclubs - If partying like a rockstar is your thing, check out Dragonfly (located at Fallsview Casino) or Rumours (located at the top of Clifton Hill).

Vintage Hotels owns 3 hotels in Niagara-On-The-Lake, all of which have their own charismatic design. If you are staying at one of these hotels, we highly recommended taking the free-of-charge shuttle bus that can take you from one hotel and checking out their grounds.

Queens Landing: Experience stately Georgian-style elegance and gracious service in a spectacular Niagara-on-the-Lake waterfront setting, located at the meeting point of the Niagara River and Lake Ontario. Hope to see you all there on July 5th!

The Prince of Whales: Step inside this intimate and elegant hotel, and enter a world like no other. Located in the heart of historic Niagara-on-the-Lake, this landmark hotel with its Victorian design, high ceilings, beautiful chandelier, and intricate wall designs is perfect for taking some awesome photos.

The Pillar and Post: Be sure to check out the Spa services at this hotel. The 100 Fountain Spa was recently rated by Spas of America as the #1 Canadian Spa of 2013. There are a ton of different services to meet everyone's needs, whether you just want a simple manicure and facial, or whole body wrap with seaweed and stone, it's all there! If you go after the wedding, there is a good chance that you will see us there!

Wine wine wine wine WINE!

There are so many wineries in the Niagara-On-The-Lake area that you can check out. Also, depending on the time, there might even be wine tasting tour available to you, where you will get picked up from a bus and dropped off at different winery locations. Ask the info desk at Queen's Landing for any upcoming wine tours.

Wineries that I urge you to check out are:

Trius Winery at Hillebrand

Jackson-Triggs Winery

Inniskillin Winery.

One of our favourite activities in Niagara on the Lake is seeing a play at the Shaw Festival, and the good news is that July is a perfect time for doing so!

Check out the Shaw Festival Website to find out more information about the plays, times, and locations, or grab a Shaw Festival Booklet from the info desk at Queen's Landing during your stay.

The performers are extremely talented, each of the three theatres has their own charisma and personality, and all of the seats have excellent visibility to the stage.

Some of our past favourites are Guys and Dolls, Harvey, and The President
